We would very much value your opinion on the holistic organic Seed Health Strategy designed in the framework of the LIVESEED project.
Please be so kind as to first read the summary of the strategy:
Please give us your feedback and contribute with your ideas by 31 October 2021 to improve this strategy through this short English questionnaire, available in English and French.
The rapid establishment of healthy seedlings is an essential element of crop production. During seed production and seedling establishment, seeds can experience infection by pathogens or other stresses. Recent findings in scientific research and the intuition of many organic practitioners converge to highlight the role of seed vigour and of microbial life (microbiome) associated with seeds in ensuring seed, seedling and plant health. However, at present both aspects are hardly incorporated in practice. In the framework of the LIVESEED project, an Organic Seed and Plant Health Strategy was drafted, with the objective of harnessing the potential of seed vigour and seed microbiomes for healthy, resilient and sustainable cropping systems. In order to make this strategy robust and fitting with situations met in practice, it needs to be broadly discussed and substantiated. Confronting it with numerous practices and experiences will also allow identifying its strengths and limitations. In this aim, we invite all actors who are (formally or informally) involved in seed health activities to give their opinion.
