LIVESEED carries out capacity building and knowledge transfer bridging the disconnection between stakeholders in organic agriculture and the developments of organic seeds and organic breeding. If policy makers, scientists, breeders, seed producers, farmers and other professionals involved in the food value chain do not collaborate and exchange knowledge on new developments and innovation, impact will be much lower.

LIVESEED’s approach

LIVESEED has developed a communication and dissemination strategy for the exchange and transfer of knowledge, technologies and solutions from the project’s results, adjusted to the different stakeholder groups involved in organic seed production and use.

The project targets stakeholders at the local, national and international levels through events, workshops, meetings, and through social media, as well as represents the interests of different stakeholder groups at EU institutions and national level policymakers. A “stakeholder platform” was set-up to facilitate the involvement of all interested stakeholders, who are willing to contribute or keep informed about the project’s results. LIVESEED also carries out significant efforts to represent the issue of organic seed and organic plant breeding at scientific fora and fosters the exchange of scientific results through sharing the findings with the research community on open access platforms set up for disseminating scientific results specific to organic agriculture (e.g. Organic E Print), and scientific events and conferences LIVESEED will develop furthermore EU-level comprehensive policy recommendations to improve the organic seed and breeding sector, and report on the innovations and scientific novelties and results of these sectors.
